My career so far...
I studied history at Cambridge University, where I spent most of my spare time as a reporter, section editor and eventually editor of The Cambridge Student.
After graduating in 2003, I spent a year in Alabama as a staff writer on the Huntsville Times, during which I covered everything from the 2004 presidential election to tornadoes and a marriage ceremony featuring two dogs.
On returning to the UK, I worked in a number of PR roles - as communications manager at the Pet Care Trust, press officer to Liz Lynne MEP and then press officer at the Health Protection Agency.
In 2007 I joined the GP magazine Pulse. In two years as a reporter I specialised in medical politics, primary care funding and NHS IT, and broke dozens of stories which were picked up by the national press. Between 2009 and 2010 I was editor of Pulse's website, and oversaw an 80% increase in traffic.
In 2011 I was promoted to deputy editor, and in 2012 I was appointed editor, leading a team of nine journalists working across print and online. I relaunched both the website and the magazine (in a new monthly format), and also launched our first iPad app. In my final year as editor we were rewarded with a sharp rise in traffic, a doubling of website comments, more than 100 mentions in the national press and a series of award nominations.
In April 2014 I joined the UK's biggest consumer website MoneySavingExpert as consumer and features editor, and in December 2015 moved to my current role as the site's news and features editor. Working closely with one of the UK's best-known journalists, editor-in-chief Martin Lewis, I run news and investigations and oversee more than 100 of the site's guides, covering utilities, travel, telecoms, shopping, motoring and more. I also help edit the email newsletter - sent to more than 10m readers each week - coordinate the site's social media and act as a spokesperson for the site.
While at Pulse and MoneySavingExpert I've appeared regularly on TV and radio, including interviews on Newsnight, ITN's News at Ten and Sky News. I've been shortlisted for a series of awards, including the 2008 Press Gazette Exclusive of the Year and News Reporter of the Year, 2010 BSME New Editor of the Year (Business) and Website Editor of the Year (Business), 2013 BSME B2B Editor of the Year and 2014 PPA Business Editor of the Year.
I am fully computer-literate with extensive experience of redesigning and launching websites, as well as multimedia and video journalism experience. My interests include travelling, cinema, supporting Newcastle United and trying to learn Vietnamese faster than my two (bilingual) children.
